Only The Beginning.

"You want me to take you home from school?" Safaree asked Nicki over the phone Monday morning. They talked every morning before school and saw each other every day after school because she went to Laguardia and he went to JFK. "You can pick me up from school but I dont want to go straight home." Nicki replied. "Has he been hitting you again?" Nicki got all her stuff ready and went downstairs to get breakfast. As usual no one was home. Jelani had already moved out, Her mom was at her nursing job, Maciah was at school and she didnt know where her dad ran off to. She didnt even care. She made some toast and grabbed some juice out of the fridge then she was off to school!


AFTER SCHOOL

*HONK HONK* "Come on Nicki!!" Nicki ran towards SB's car and got in. "Hey Safaree" "Hey Nicki, how was school?" "It was good, we worked on a new play." "Oh thats nice cant wait to see it, where u want to go?" "I dont care, lets go chill at your house."  Safaree lived by himself already because he hated being at home. His whole family was quiet but he was loud. He always felt like the odd one out and they treated him differently. He loved when Nicki came over because that way he knew she was safe. Besides, he loved the company. "Nicki I have to ask you something." "Yes Safaree?" She asked concerned. "Umm I dont want to get into your business at all but umm you have bruises on your leg and some on your arms... and I know that you probably have some under your make up." "Ok well thats not a question." "Nicki I just want to know that you are ok. I told you to call me whenever he is hurting you and to call me when you are scared... You never do." "Safaree I am sorry. I dont want to bother you with something that you cant change." "Nicki..." "Yes?" "Move in with me" "NO.. I mean, I have to think about it Safaree. I have my music and my acting to think about." "Ok but please really think about it." "I will"    They went to Safaree's apartment and laughed and joked, watched movies, ate snacks, and just chilled. Nicki looked at the clock. It was 9pm. "Safaree I have to go." "Oh shit, its late, let me get you home"



AT HOME

Nicki walked in the door. She knew her mom would be sleeping and her dad would be home any minute. She rushed in the kitchen to clean it up quickly before her father got home. When she was done she was about to shower and go to bed when she turned around and saw a shadow in the doorway. "Nicki what are you doing?" Her father asked. "Cleaning the kitchen daddy how was your day?" She managed to say. "Do you see what fucking time it is? Why is it 10 at night and you are just NOW cleaning my got damn kitchen?" "I am sorry daddy I went to Thembi's to do homework, I just got home." "Come her now" "Daddy please no.. I am sorry this will never happen again" "If I have to tell you one more time to come here ONIKA..." She slowly walked toward him. "I AM GETTIN SO TIRED OF YOUR BULLSHIT AND YOUR LIES" He yelled. He balled up his fist and punched her right in her face. "Ouch oh my god. Dad I said I was sorry." "I dont give a fuck." He grabbed her by her hair and threw her on the ground and beat her. He punched her legs, arms, face and neck. "I hope you learned your lesson Onika. This is only for your own good." With that he walked away


Nicki ran upstairs to her room and saw that her lip was busted. She wanted to call SB but she didnt. She never wanted to worry him with her problems. She loved him and cared for him deep inside and she never wanted him worried or distraught. She got in the shower and began washing up and looking at her bruises. Just then there was a knock at the door. "Onika please let me in I am sorry"
"Dad I am in the shower you can talk to me later." "No Onika open this door now." "Dad NO I HAVE NO CLOTHES ON." Just then he kicked in the door and flung open the shower curtain... I cant believe he is fucking doing this, She thought...
